The merging of two different trilogies and the falling off of another series.
Days of Future Past represents the potential of all superhero films to blend completely different casts in a truly original way. Thanks to Hugh Jackman, who manages to link both the future and the past segments of the film, this one creates a truly compelling story told over the course of fifty years. Possibly the best X-Men film of all time.
Batman Returns is the follow-up to Tim Burton’s staunchly unique Batman. The thing that makes this film so great is the villains. Danny DeVito was made to play the role of the penguin and he turns out one of the best performances of any Batman villain. Both of Burton’s films turned Batman into something much darker and it worked well.
Days of Future Past is possibly the strongest X-Men film, while Batman Returns has aged surprisingly better than its predecessor. My choice to advance to the next round is…
