Manifesto – 2015

RRRThere are some unusual movies that have been produced recently. Manifesto is an art film if ever there was one. The film follows thirteen different people as they deliver various manifestos about the realness of art and its place in society. The interesting part of this film is that all thirteen characters are played by Cate Blanchett, who morphs into twelve different women and one man, all of whom have different perspectives on art and share them through various mediums: a eulogy, a prayer, a lesson, etc. Each message debates the purpose of art and whether art should mimic reality or strive to be completely original. Cate Blanchett proves that she is a master actress as she shifts effortlessly between the roles and pulls viewers in with a simple glance.

Pretty much only Cate Blanchett, but it never suffers from the absence of other actors, this one isn’t for everyone.

A thought-provoking film that weighs the significance of art in a very powerful way, I give this film…
