Back to the Future – 1985

Time travel is one of the most entertaining and oft-used features in science fiction. There were many time travel films before Back to the Future and many more since, but none have had the same whimsy as this classic. The film follows Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) as he accidentally travels back to the 1950s and is forced to help in his parents’ dating life. The film plays most of the time travel elements for laughs, like Marty’s interactions with discredited scientist and inventor of time travel, Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd). Robert Zemeckis is at his best here and strikes a great balance between comedy and sci-fi, inspiring generations of films that try to mimic the science of this time travel masterpiece.

One that every film fan should see and can be appreciated by anyone, no matter how old; also, the sequels are pretty good too.

The film has more than survived the test of time and remains the go-to science fiction film for thirty years of fans, as a result, I give it…
