No Christmas is complete without It’s a Wonderful Life. There is something to watching the heartwarming tale of George Bailey on Christmas Day while thinking about all the good things that you have in life. There’s a reason that this film is considered the quintessential Christmas film as its message has endured for 70 years. Jimmy Stewart gives the performance that defined his career and made him an icon. There is nothing more beautiful than the final scene of this film where George Bailey’s entire life is revealed to have mattered in more ways than he ever imagined. Frank Capra has a gift for tugging at the heartstrings and this more than any other demonstrates his directing abilities.
The greatest Christmas film, but easily worth watching anytime of the year.
