- Originality: The DC Extended Universe has been one of the most interesting roller coasters in the world of cinema and the latest offering adds a new twist on one of their previously established characters: Harley Quinn. Choosing to focus this film on her character and provide her with decent backstory and development helped this film stand out beyond its predecessors. [4.0]
- Performances: Margot Robbie is a talented actress and this film gives her the opportunity to stand out and showcase her chops as more than a side character in short shorts. Her chemistry with the rest of the cast, especially Ewan McGregor allows for some of the film’s best moments and a good script gives the cast more to say than some of the previous installments. [4.0]
- Technicality: Cathy Yan made only one feature film before this one, but she was entrusted with this and she managed to make quite a spectacle. The fight choreography of this film is a lot of fun and the special effects add to the already impressive feats of action; this combination serves the film well and allows for Yan to create a film that is both slick and fun without getting bloated. - Rewatchability: By comparison with the other films in the DC universe, this film is very enjoyable and deserves to be rewatched just for the impressive action sequences alone. I had a lot of fun watching this one and it is an easy one to have on in the background partially due to its energetic score and use of color which makes it feel completely different than its siblings.
